Today we proudly launch lifepinnacare.com, the digital heart of a bold European initiative dedicated to protecting one of the Mediterranean's most iconic and critically endangered marine species: the noble pen shell, Pinna nobilis. This giant bivalve, once abundant across the seabed, has faced catastrophic decline due to a devastating disease outbreak.
LIFE PINNACARE is not just a project. It is a collaboration across countries, institutions and experts working together to prevent the extinction of the fan mussel and restore its place in our seas. From scientific research and captive breeding to habitat conservation and citizen science, this initiative brings together knowledge, commitment and action for the future of the Mediterranean.
